Work Ethic

Work EthicWhat exactly is work ethic?  This answer can come in a variety of ways.  Most individuals already assume that they already know what work ethic means.  I am one of those individuals.  Work ethic is something I can not define on my own.  When I think of work ethic, I think of my morals and values of life and apply them to the work place.  This definition alone can cause a lot of confusion.  Everyone morals and values are different in life so what exactly is the definition of work ethics? I've been wondering about the definition for a while now and decided to talk about my thoughts on here.

What exactly is the definition of work ethic?

The first thing that comes to mind about work ethic is Respect for the Authority.  One problem about today is that most individuals take respect very lightly.  Children are growing up today and their respect for their parents and those in charge are diminishing at a faster rate each day.  I'm not saying that you should kiss up to your boss at all times, but with respect, everything else falls into place.

Another key component that I think may be a part of good work ethic is Remembering Names.  I am terrible with names!! But with names, it shows people that you care (in some way) and it also makes things more personal and friendly.  Also remember to call people by their respected titles too.  This will definitely impress your employer and give you even more brownie points.  Brownie points are definitely a plus.

Flexibility is another key for having good work ethic.  Maybe Flexibility  is a characteristic but it will help out in the work place.  Flexibility is key because everyone work differently.  You may get into situations where you have to be flexible in order to solve it.  Flexibility is applied in problems in the company, issues with coworkers, arriving at a certain time to work, and many more.

Last thing I thought of when it comes to work ethic is Having a Positive Attitude.  Having a positive attitude makes everything much easier and simpler with your day at work and your coworkers.  You can also get a lot more done with a positive attitude.  So turn that frown upside down and get to working.

If you Relax, be yourself, and treat others with kindness, you will go a long way on your job and in your career.

This was just a thought I was having while answering phone calls at work (A nice fellow hung up on me while I was talking.  That's peachy :) ).  Work ethic is key to being very successful in the work place. So the lesson for this time around is Relax, you'll be fine as long as you be yourself.

Thank you.
