It's Alright to Make Mistakes as Long as You Try to Fix Them

First day of class. So This quarter I only have one class because I am on Co-op. Maybe I'll explain that another time. But the first day of my Design I class was very interesting. Let's start from the beginning, a week before class started. I received an email from my academic adviser explaining that I was finally registered for my French II class. I was really happy and excited that day. UNFORTUNATELY five minutes after I received that email I received another email from my French II professor explaining that he unregistered us from his class because not enough students registered for it. Not only was my happiness shattered, but I was also panicking. WHAT CLASS AM I GOING TO TAKE NOW???

Then I decided, it was probably best if I took a class that was 4.00 credits. I'm only taking one class, how hard will it be? After a long thought process, I decided to take Design I. Basically, it's an introductory art course. Yes, I am a cs major, but I love art too. So I said, 'Sure, why not?'.

Now back to the first day of classes. After a long day, I was finally on campus. I was at the commuters lounge waiting for the class to start. It was approaching 6 o clock and I decided to drop some stuff off at the library before I went to class. I didn't know where my class was located so I decided to look it up at the last minute. SO I finally go
into the building and up to the 5th floor just to find my classroom completely empty. Panic definitely settled in.

"Where is everyone?"

"Am I at the right place?"

"Why is no one here?"

I looked across the hall to find a class and sighed in relief. "Oh maybe, they just moved to the classroom over." I walk inside and sit down. The professor gave me the syllabus and she kept on talking. She was talking and it finally dawned on me... "I thought I had a male professor?" I let her continue on because I didn't think twice about that thought. Then another thought dawned on me. The class already finished reading half of the syllabus already.

"Was I late, I thought the class started at 6?"

After finishing the syllabus the professor explained that class ended at 6:30 everyday.  At this moment I realized that I was in the wrong class.  My class is suppose to end at 9, I have a male professor, and my class starts at 6.  I didn't know how I was suppose to just 'leave' the classroom, especially since there were only around 14 people in there.  I took a deep breathe stood up and told the professor that I was in the wrong class and then I walked out of the door.

I WAS SO EMBARRASSED!!!  I'm such an idiot, a simpleton, a doofus.  I pulled out my iPod to make sure I was at the right location.  When my iPod screen lit up, I finally saw the major flaw.

It wasn't 6 o clock.  It was actually 5 o clock!!

I wanted to beat myself in the head.  I took my pride and shame and called a friend in order to hang out before my class officially started.

So there you have it.  My first day of class.  I had to buy $200 worth of art supplies but over all I am happy with the class.  I was soo embarrassed.  My boyfriend actually laughed at the story when I told him.  But I am determined to get an A in this class.  I can't wait for this quarter to be over.  So the lesson for today is, it's alright to make mistakes as long as you try to fix them.
